Day job: I am the Project Scientist for the STEREO Heliospheric Imagers, at STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. I lead the group here in the UK that is responsible for aligning, calibrating and analysing the data from the Heliospheric Imagers. The field of science I am involved with - solar terrestrial physics - investigates the effects of the Sun on the Earth and its space environment. Initially I studied the aurora (or Northern Lights which are generated by the solar wind) but my career appears to have been moving me sunward ever since!
